Expect Opposition
GF David
Memorise: "When He arrived at the other side in the country of the Gadarenes, two demon-possessed men coming out of the tombs met Him. They were so extremely fierce and violent that no one could pass by that way." — Matthew 8:28 (AMP)
Acknowledging God's presence is a crucial aspect of the Christian life, as it recognizes His sovereignty and power over our lives. In the passage, the madman in Gadara acknowledged Jesus' presence, saying, "What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God?" (Mark 5:7). This acknowledgment was not just a mere recognition of Jesus' identity, but also a demonstration of the demons' awareness of His authority and power.
Similarly, in our lives, acknowledging God's presence means recognizing His active involvement in our circumstances. It's a declaration of faith that says, "God is here, and He is in control." This acknowledgment can bring comfort, peace, and strength, as we remember that God is with us, even in the midst of challenges and uncertainties.
As the Bible says, "The Lord is near to the brokenhearted, and saves the crushed in spirit" (Psalm 34:18). When we acknowledge God's presence, we are reminded of His nearness and His ability to save and deliver us from any situation.
Moreover, acknowledging God's presence requires humility and a willingness to submit to His will. As the apostle Paul wrote, "I can do all this through him who gives me strength" (Philippians 4:13). This verse highlights our dependence on God's power and presence, and our acknowledgment of His ability to work through us.
In the passage, Jesus' presence brought deliverance and freedom to the madman, demonstrating God's power and authority over the forces of darkness. As we acknowledge God's presence in our lives, we too can experience His power and deliverance and demonstrate His glory to a world that needs Him.
Prayer/Confession:
Father, help me acknowledge Your presence in every situation, and demonstrate Your power and authority to a world that needs You, in Jesus' name, Amen.
