I Will Go Before Thee
GF David
Memorise: "I will go before you and make the crooked places straight; I will shatter the doors of bronze and break the bars of iron in two." — Isaiah 45:2 (AMP)
The message "I will go before thee" is a powerful declaration of God's presence and guidance in our lives. As the passage reminds us, "The Lord will go before you, and the God of Israel will be your rear guard" (Isaiah 52:12 AMP). This promise is a reminder that God is always with us, leading the way and protecting us from harm.
God's presence before us is a sign of His sovereignty and power. As He said to Moses, "My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest" (Exodus 33:14 AMP). This assurance gives us confidence and peace, knowing that we are not alone in our journey.
However, the Israelites in the passage were asking for a human king to lead them, rejecting God's leadership. They wanted a visible, tangible leader, someone they could see and touch. But God reminded them, "They have not rejected you, but they have rejected Me, that I should not reign over them" (1 Samuel 8:7 AMP). This rejection was not just about wanting a human king; it was about rejecting God's presence and guidance in their lives.
When we make God our king, He goes before us, leading the way and fighting our battles. "The Lord will fight for you, while you keep silent" (Exodus 14:14 AMP). This promise is not just for the Israelites; it's for us today.
Ultimately, God's presence before us is a call to trust and obedience. When He says, "I will go before thee," He's asking us to follow Him, to trust in His sovereignty and power. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding" (Proverbs 3:5 AMP).
Prayer/Confession: Father, I thank You for Your promise to go before me and lead the way. I surrender my life to You and ask that You guide me and direct me in all that I do. Help me to trust in Your sovereignty and power, and to follow You with confidence. May Your presence go before me and lead me to victory and triumph over every enemy, in Jesus' name, Amen.
