How to Maintain Holiness and Stand Strong in the Storm
We must be very intentional to know that we are in a constant battle. This is not a season that passes, it is the reality of the Christian walk. Ephesians 6:12 tells us, "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." Once you understand this, you stop being surprised by the fight and start preparing for it.
If you scatter the den of the enemy, they will never be happy. Every time you choose holiness, every time you refuse to compromise, you are disturbing a camp that wants to settle comfortably in your life. Expect resistance. It means you are winning.
You must be aligned. You must have a relationship that pleases God in order to avoid unnecessary attacks. Many believers are not under attack because they are doing something wrong, but because they have drifted from alignment. James 4:7 says, "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." Alignment comes before authority.
If you are living a different life outside the church, you may be preserved for a while, but not for long. God is patient, but He is not mocked. Whatever is hidden eventually surfaces, and whatever is not surrendered eventually costs you. As a worker in the house of God, represent Jesus properly. Fear Him and love Him. Stop saying grace is enough for me as an excuse to stay comfortable in sin. Titus 2:11 to 12 reminds us that grace teaches us "that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world." Grace is not a license, it is a teacher.
Fear means reverence. It is not about being afraid of God, it is about honoring Him enough to obey Him.
You must stay with God even in the storm. God will test you before He lifts you. This is not punishment, it is preparation. 1 Peter 1:7 says our faith, "being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ." Every storm is refining you for the glory ahead.
You must pray for grace to withstand storms. Holiness is not maintained by willpower alone, it is sustained by grace you must ask for daily. Stand strong. The storm is not your end, it is your preparation.
